Diana F+ Exposure Chart

Based on dozens of film data charts, online reference material, material supplied by film manufacturers, and my own personal shooting experience, I have made this free downloadable chart available to my fellow Diana + and F+ users to help as a guide in determining the proper exposure. Charts like this come in many shapes and sizes by different photographers- but hey, this one is specific to the Diana!

How to: Download the PDF. Print out side one and then side two so they are on the same sheet but opposite sides. Then trim to the outer black border, laminate and presto...your exposure data sheet is ready to go!

Here are some considerations to keep in mind:

  • This is only a guide and different films have different exposure latitudes so test your material first!
  • The Diana camera is not a precision camera and each has its own unique thumb print so again, test first.
  • The chart is good for all black and white, color and slide material with an ISO between 50 - 800.
  • The chart's height is six inches which is very close to the focus distance of the 55mm lens with the close-up lens attached, so you can use it as a distance guide.
  • This chart does not take into account reciprocity corrections necessary for long exposure (as this would be impossible since each film is a bit different.) This exposure correction for reciprocity failure would only be necessary for exposures in most cases longer than one second. Check with your film manufacturer and again- test first!!
  • If possible it is best to print out the exposure chart using a color printer as I have color coded sections for faster use...fast is good!

How to use the Diana + and F+ exposure guide in 3 easy steps!

  1. Look at the side of the card with the subject descriptions and find the one that matches your current shooting enviroment. Remember the Code next to the description.
  2. Flip the card over and find your film ASA and then read down that column till you find your code.
  3. Follow that row over to the right till you find your chosen F stop and presto! There is your shutter speed.

How to Order:

Just click Add To Cart and fill in the required information. You will receive 3 emails with your order details, your account info- yes, you now have an account at IHIW with a username and password to track your orders, and the final 3rd email will have a direct download link to your exposure guide. The downloadable PDF is good for 5 downloads only so be sure to save a copy somewhere on your computer for reference..

NOTE: A HUGE inspiration in creating this card goes to Fred Parker who has a great, more detailed chart and additional exposure information available on his web site.
